About the exam

Polish B1 exam preparation online

The Polish state certification exam (państwowy egzamin certyfikatowy z języka polskiego jako obcego) at level B1 is the only official document confirming command of Polish as a foreign language. The certificate is issued by the State Commission (Państwowa Komisja ds. Poświadczania Znajomości Języka Polskiego jako Obcego), is valid for life, and is mainly required for Polish citizenship through the recognition procedure (uznanie za obywatela polskiego), an EU long-term resident permit, work in several regulated professions, and admission to Polish universities.

plexiqa brings everything you need for B1 preparation together in one place: vocabulary, grammar, and exam-style exercises — no app install, on your phone or laptop.

What the B1 Polish exam covers

The exam has a written and an oral part and lasts 205 minutes. The written part is made up of four modules: listening comprehension (rozumienie ze słuchu), reading comprehension (rozumienie tekstów pisanych), grammatical accuracy (poprawność gramatyczna), and written expression (pisanie). The oral part takes up to 15 minutes before the examination committee.

To pass B1, you need at least 50% in each written module and at least 50% in the oral part. Level B1 matches the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR / ESOKJ).

Why the B1 certificate matters

  • Polish citizenshipthe uznanie za obywatela polskiego procedure requires official proof of Polish at B1 or higher.
  • EU long-term resident permitalso requires a confirmed B1 certificate.
  • Workmedical professions (nurses, doctors) often require B1, while government service typically requires B2.
  • Universityart and sport programs accept B1; most other faculties require B2.

How preparation works in plexiqa

We have gathered everything you need for confident B1 preparation in one place:

  • Ready-made thematic lists for A1–B1 vocabularywords are grouped by topics that show up on the exam and in real life in Poland.
  • Grammar through exercises with instant checkingno need to study rules in isolation: you do the exercises and immediately see what already feels solid and what still needs more practice.
  • Four B1 exam modulespractice listening, reading, grammar, and writing in the format of real tasks.
  • Spaced repetition (SRS)the system reminds you when words and topics need a review so they stick for the long run.

Study from your phone or laptop, whenever it suits you — no app install, no rigid schedule.

How long B1 preparation usually takes

It varies from person to person, and that is completely normal. If you already have some foundation and can study a few times a week, reaching a confident B1 level often takes a few months. If you are starting close to zero, the path is usually longer. The important part is not chasing someone else’s timeline, but keeping a steady rhythm: short, regular sessions usually work better than rare marathon study days. plexiqa helps you keep that rhythm by showing you what to review and what to focus on next.
